How do I know if I need counseling?

First of all, I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling. Whether we are going through a crisis or times of relative peace, we all have room to grow. Reasons for seeking counseling can range from past trauma to relationship issues to just feeling overwhelmed with the demands of life. Beyond that, many people are fearful of being a burden to friends and family and want a safe, confidential place to address problems.

How do I schedule an appointment?

How long is each session?

Each session is typically 50-60 minutes in duration.

What type of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, HSA cards, major credit cards, and most digital payment apps.

Do you accept insurance? What will your services cost me?

I am an out of network provider for all insurances and payment is due at the time of service. However, keep in mind that the vast majority of insurance plans provide some percentage of reimbursement for my services.

During our initial call, we will review together your cost based on your specific out of network mental health benefits. You can prepare for that call by utilizing the Verification Of Benefits (VOB) calculator on my Insurance Tools page . Once you have started treatment, you can also file your insurance claims quickly and easily through that same page. This is both for your convenience and also helps you to get reimbursed faster.

All clients also receive a written Good Faith Estimate at the beginning of treatment.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first 1-2 sessions are focused on information gathering, discussing presenting concerns, and developing treatment goals. There is nothing you need to prepare for the first session as I will guide you through this process.
